Partnering For Life Initiative

Larry Gaynor is the CEO of TNG Worldwide, a beauty brand, and a member of the American Cancer Society. Successful entrepreneur and philanthropist Larry Gaynor has raised and collected more than $2 million for the organization.

The American Cancer Society is a national, non-profit health organization dedicated to researching cancer and its causes to discover better treatments. The organization pushes lifesaving policy changes and provides support and the latest information for cancer patients. Its resources and personnel are available, all hours of the day, every day of the week.

It has instituted various community-based initiatives to ensure equal opportunities for everyone, such as the Partnering for Life initiative, a cancer awareness initiative for the black community, launched on December 4, 2021.

The event was launched with a Partnering for Life concert. It was an evening of good music and hope. Hosted by actress and American Cancer Society Ambassador Wendy Raquel Robinson, the event featured outstanding performances by Jonathan Nelson, Maurette Brown Clark, Patrick Lundy and the Ministers of Music, and Dottie Peoples. It also included inspirational messages by special guests from across the nation.

Aimed at informing, educating, and inspiring individuals, the initiative hopes to spread awareness about cancer risks, prevention, and early detection methods in the black community with additional resources available on the American Cancer Society's website

Innovate State Speaker Series at MSU

An alumnus of Michigan State University, Larry Gaynor is an executive and philanthropist with over three decades of experience. Entrepreneur Larry Gaynor supported MSU’s establishment of the Gaynor Entrepreneurship Lab with a donation of $3 million.

The Gaynor Entrepreneurship Lab is a flexible, open space on the MSU campus that facilitates discussions, workshops, and mentoring sessions for students on entrepreneurship. One event held at the Lab is the Innovate StateSpeaker Series.

Held annually, the Innovate State Speaker Series is an interactive career mentorship and coaching program. Hosted by the Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, the program gathers upcoming and accomplished Spartans. The fireside chat allows participants to discuss entrepreneurship-related topics ranging from innovation and investments to career paths.

Participants hear success stories and how to learn from failure tips. A hybrid event, all sessions last 60 minutes. The in-person and live stream begins at 6 pm. Upcoming speakers for the 2021-2022 Series include Rob Smith, Joshua Ogundu, and Brittney Urich.

Deadliest Cancer in the United States

As of 2020, cancer was the second leading cause of death in the United States and only surpassed by heart disease. Of the various types of cancer, lung cancer is the most lethal. Lung cancer occurs when malignant growth is present in any tissue in the lung. Since 1987, lung cancer has outmatched the previous leading cause of cancer death among women (breast cancer). Since then, lung cancer has attained the top position in the list of the deadliest cancers that kill males and females.

Consumption of cigarettes or other smoked tobacco products is responsible for the recorded increase in lung cancer deaths. Smokers are the most high-risk individuals. Statistically, 80 to 90 percent of lung cancer diagnoses are caused by smoking. Nonsmokers exposed to second-hand smoking (inhaling smoked cigarettes) also have a high risk of developing lung cancer. Other risk factors include exposure to dangerous radiation and ingestion or inhalation of carcinogenic (cancer-causing) substances such as asbestos.

If a metastatic growth in the lung is detected early, there's a high chance that cancer will respond to treatment, and the individual will be cured. Smokers and people exposed to other potential causes of lung cancer due to their work or other factors are high-risk individuals. Frequent low-dose CT screening is recommended for this group to foster early detection of lung cancer. According to the American Lung Association, if half the population of high-risk individuals receives frequent screening, over 12,000 lives may be saved.

An article in the Observer placed credit for Olaplex’s success on social media currency, combined with pandemic-related consumer spending.

With TikTok and other platforms ensuring a rapid spread of marketing material, Olaplex was able to mimic the “salon experience” at a time when in-person visits were severely curtailed. Searching the hashtag Olaplex yields thousands of personal videos made by those who have achieved positive results with its products, whether through fuller hair growth or beard grooming.

Another aspect of robust growth in the premium hair care segment for Olaplex has offered a product uniquely applicable to consumers across ethnicities and hair types. With the company set to double its advertising spend in 2022, with a focus on influencers on social media platforms, Olaplex’s sustained success may point a way for other nimble, Internet-savvy salon products companies to thrive.
